On November 15th, Clarivate Analytics announced the list of global "Highly Cited Researchers 2023".ProfessorShi Wenxinfrom the College of Environment and Ecology of Chongqing University was on the list.

The global “Highly Cited Researchers” list is currently one of the most valuable categories of high-impact scholars, and achieved by Clarivate Analytics based on the citation data and analysis from the Web of Science (WOS). Researchers chosen for this list have published multiple articles that rank in the top 1% by citations for the same fields and publication year in the WOS citation index. The list is released once a year to recognize influential natural and social scientists worldwide who have made significant contributions to their fields.The2023 list is selected based on the number of the highly cited papers published during the past 10 years from theJanuary 2012 to December 2022. There are 6849 researchers from all over the world received 7125 mentions on this year’s list, with a total of 1275 from mainland China. Among them, 12 teachers from Chongqing University have earned the honor of being named in the list of "Highly Cited Researchers 2023" byClarivate Analytics.

Professor Shi Wenxin has been committed to the research on drinking water safety, wastewater treatment and resource utilization for many years. His team has made many innovative achievements in the research and development of aerobic granular sludge technology, advanced oxidation technology and membrane separationtechnology. In recent years, he has published over 200 articles, including several highly cited articles. He has hosted and participated in more than twenty prestigious projects, including National Key Research and Development Program, the National Water Pollution Control and Treatment Science and Technology Major Project, and the National Natural Science Foundation of China. The achievements of Professor Shi have been widely recognized through several awards, including the nine Ministerial and Provincial-Level Science and Technology Awards. Moreover, he has achieved the 2019 Chinese Water Industry Contributor Award,the second prize of National Teaching Achievement Award and the special prize of Gansu Provincial Excellent Teaching AchievementAward in recognition of his teaching and research contributions. He has guided 19 doctoral students and more than 50 graduate studentsover the past decades.
